She retired from teaching and pursued her career in performing arts. After her husband died, she then decided to take lessons in Aikido. She earned her first black belt at the age of seventy-five.

A veteran technology professional, she developed automated business systems at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and at Merrill Lynch and currently works as a writer and consultant with Philmont Software Mill.
