This dynamic DVD is a recording of the second Bujinkan meets Systema seminar with Sveneric Bogsater and Jan Bloem. In this very dynamic seminar both shared valuable knowledge to all practitioners. A lot of martial arts have similar movements, although the philosophy for the movement can differ. This seminar greatly explores the principles of Bujinkan and Systema.

The topic of this seminar was Shinken gata (Bujinkan) and Short work (Systema). Sveneric started with the Sanshin no kata with the intend of Shinken gata. In addition to that Jan showed the Short work approach to the same attacks. Also an explanation is given about the use of levers and how to change your body position make a lever work for you. In the last part of the training both Sveneric and Jan showed how to work against multiple opponents.

The final part of the training Jan shows Russian combat massage. This is simular to the bujinkan Amatsu Tatara Hichibuku Goshinjutsu. Through rigourous massage your body will recuperate quicker.

Both the Bujinkan and Systema use a lot of the same principles in movement and are both focused on survival. The differences in approach are cultural. A common similarity is that both systems seem to be evolving the same. Systema is used by the elite teams of the Spetsnaz which can be compared with the ninja. They were ancient Japanese Special Forces. Both systems also address the mental part of training and have numerous mind and body improving exercises.

Bujinkan

Bujinkan is a practical natural real fighting and philosophical martial arts system deeply founded in the lore of the mystic warriors of feudal Japan, both the Samurai and the Ninja. In our dojos we practice techniques, wazas, principles and philosophies of 9 different Japanese martial art schools, known as Ryu in Japanese

Systema

Systema is a Russian martial art. Training includes, but is not limited to: hand-to-hand combat, grappling, knife fighting, and fire-arms training. Training involves drills and sparring without set kata. It focuses mainly on controlling the six body levers (elbows, neck, knees, waist, ankles, and shoulders) through pressure point application, striking, and weapon applications.   This DVD will show new details and ideas to both Bujinkan and Systema practitioners.
